The Year I Make It Happen

Okay, so i'm sure we all have New Year's Resolutions, here are a few of my Blogolutions.. But, the one thing i absolutely suck at is sticking to them! I am rubbish at keeping to things however this year i've made it my goal to achieve as many things as possible! I'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem and i'm sure a lot of you out there have trouble sticking to your New Year's Resolutions too!

Lloyds Bank have this fantastic 'Make it happen in 2014 app' where you can share your goals within 3 categories.. Home, Life and Money.  Follow the simple steps to create your personal goals for the year and they will give you a toolbox of helpful tips and ideas to inspire you to achieve your goals..
With that being said, here are a few of my personal goals for 2014..

Start my own business
This has something i've always wanted to do, this may sound a little silly to some but it makes perfect sense to me. I've always seen myself as a 'work at home' type person.. I've never really enjoyed working at the places i've worked and i've always dreamed of having my own business. One day i decided i wanted to open my own business and even though i'm still working on it now and it's been a long working process but i know once i've achieved it would be a massive tick of my list of things to do before i die and not just a New Year's Resolution..
Even though i'm keeping it under wraps on what my business is going to be for the moment.. If you were planning or have thought or starting your own business i say just go for it! There is a lot of planning involved, i suggest you note down every single thing possible that you will need, things to do etc and slowly tick off that list. Find something you are truly passionate about, weather that's making jewellery, clothes or even home decor.. Planning it all out is the number one key!

Save for a house
This may be on everyone's list but i really want to move out and have my own place with my boyfriend! We've been together 8 years this year and we've been living with his parents during that time and it can get a little stressful let me tell you that and sometimes i just feel like we need our own space. For this, me and my boyfriend have sat down and figured out how much we can put aside in either a savings account or into a piggy bank each month/week.. Minus out bills, expenses, traveling and food etc.. We've worked out how much we can afford to put away and will be sticking to this for the next year or two..

Clear debt
I did so well last year with my bills, i wouldn't quite call them debts as i'm not really in debt... Anyway last year in 2013 i managed to clear a total of 3 bills off so i'm only left with one bill to pay per month. Now i plan to be debt free by the end of this year and just have the occasional outgoings such as my phone bill.
I say when your trying to pay off debt or bills is that only pay what you can afford.. Don't leave yourself short every month to the stage where you can't even afford to eat or pay any other important bills such as gas or electric.. Work out how much you can afford to pay each creditor and stick to it monthly.  As soon as you get paid every month, or whenever you get paid.. Pay each of your creditors and if you have any extra then pay it to them.. Paying a little extra every month means you'll pay off your debt quicker.
Also when it comes to debt i know a lot of people worry about it a lot, i'd just say try not to stress about it so much.. If you can't afford to pay your credit card because you have just lost your job.. Phone them and tell them.. Most companies can freeze your account for a certain amount of time or even help set up a payment plan with them so you can pay something that's more affordable and suited to you..

There we have it, my personal goals for 2014 and one's i'm going to stick to all through-out the year!
Are there any personal goals you'd like to achieve in the year?.. Share them below!

  1. Good Luck, I have the similar aims with debt and getting my own place.
I think what you say is wise, pay what you can then if you have anything left pay it off at the end of the month. I think I will be doing this but making sure I put enough in my savings account for myself xx
