Look of the days (Past few weeks)

I've just noticed that i haven't posted a look of the day in soo long and i have no idea as to why that is, i guess it's just down to my busyness.  I did promise to take daily photo's and post it every 2 weeks on here but failed and the reason is i haven't really been doing anything amazing to take photo's of apart from my unhealthy eating, my fitness and the odd trip shopping or to the cinema's.. But i shall definetly try start doing them again.
I have however been posting daily pictures on Instagram so if you don't follow me already then please go check out and follow me on there - misshollyxo

NOTW: Attempting Water Marble Nails - Without the water

Okay, so i didn't do the best job with my marble nails and they are abit of a hit-or-miss, but i do really like the outcome of my attempt. I've always struggled to do water marble nails, i just can't seem to master the best way to do them but i'm sure with a little determination and effort i will one day be able to achieve them.
Anyway, i wanted to do something different with my nails a few days ago and i had an idea in mind of what i wanted it to look like, but achieving the look was much much easier than i thought..
I attempted the look with loads of other colours but found that the 2 main shades i picked worked really well together and the outcome looked much alot better than i had in mind.
Step 1:  With both nail polishes, dot one of each shade side by side onto a spare peice of paper.
Step 2:  Using a the nail polish brush, slightly merge the two colours together.
Step 3:  Paint the two merged colours together, so it creates a slight marbled look.
Step 4: To finish the look paint i painted my nails with a gold glitter nail polish, this also tones down the colour of your finished look into more of a pastel green/minty green shade.
Lastly clean up any mess with a cotton bud and nail polish remover and your all set to go!

This set includes:
  • GHD Paddle Brush
  • GHD Style Straight and Smooth Spray
  • GHD Style Final Shine Spray
  • 2 GHD Sectioning Clips
Comes beautifully packaged in a sleek black box with the GHD logo on the front
GHD Style Straight and Smooth Spray:  After getting out of the shower and after towel drying my hair, as i always do i then sprayed 4-6 sprays all over my hair and then brushed through my hair with the GHD Paddle Brush pictured to evenly disperse the product throughout my hair. I then blow dried my hair and styled my hair to how i would normally wear it, the great thing about this is that the product contains the GHD Heat Protection System so it also works as a heat protect aswell.  After styling i noticed my hair to be less frizzy and it felt much smoother. The scent is absolutely divine the best word to describe it would be fresh it's like when you go to the hairdressers and get your hair done, which i love because it makes me feel as if i've been to the hairdressers.  I would describe my hair more as normal slightly thick but this product works absolute wonders on my hair.
You could also refresh your style between washing by spraying lightly on to dry hair before straightening..

GHD Style Final Shine Spray:  So after styling my hair i sprayed the GHD Style Final Shine Spray all over my hair to tame any flyaways, normally after i straighten my hair it normally goes into static mode so i need hairspray!  It left my hair with an all over shine, it's very lightweight and the scent is also that fresh smelling scent that you get when you visit the hairdressers..
Alternatively you can spray the GHD Style Final Shine Spray onto your hair brush before dressing out hair.
GHD Paddle Brush:  I absolutely love this paddle brush, i've needed a new one for the longest time now so i'm glad they had this in the set, it's perfect for detangling my knots without to much tugging and pulling and helps smooth my hair.
GHD Sectioning Clips:  With this set you get 2 sectioning clips, perfect for when you need to section off your hair for blow drying!  They grip your hair really well so that your hair doesn't fall out mid-straightening or blowdrying and it just makes the whole process of blow drying much easier!

Overall:  This set is perfect for those who like looking after their hair or for those who like to straighten their hair alot (like me) - It also makes a perfect birthday present or even if you just want to treat yourself!

The GHD Style and Protect Gift Set is available to purchase from the GHD website for £39 - Everything shown can also be purchased individually excluding the sectioning clips.

PMD Personal Mircoderm

Professional Mircodermabrasion has been around for decades and has been clinically proven to give you younger looking, more vibrant, glowing skin.  This Personal Microderm unit uses the same aluminum oxide crystals embedded in the top that are used in ten thousand dollar machines found at your doctors office.
Promotes cells renewal and rejuvenation using the combination of exfoliation plus suction!
This set comes with:
  •     PMD Personal Microderm Machine
  •     Ten Blue Exfoliating Discs
  •     Eight Green Exfoliating Discs
  •     Body Large Cap
  •     Facial Small Cap
  •     Preinstalled Reusable Filter
  •     AC Adaptor (Power Supply Cord) – Output DC12V, 500mA
  •     Instructions (packed with DVD)
  •     DVD Instructional Video
You will first be instructed to watch the instructional DVD, the DVD basically shows you everything you need to know to use the PMD and to ensure you are using the device properly as using it wrong could result in scabbing and/or scarring of the skin..  You must also prep the new discs before using.. Simply rub the disc over the palm of your hand firmly for 7 seconds and your ready to use.  Use on your face, elbows, hands, feet or wherever you have age spots, fine lines or wrinkles.
I've tested this device for nearly 2months now so it's safe to say i have had enough time to review it and i have noticed a big difference in the way my skin felt and looked, even after the first use.  Using the smaller discs for areas such as my nose and chin, and the bigger discs for areas such as my forehead and cheeks.  You will start to notice a difference from the first use, and although i cannot say i have any fine lines or wrinkles yet i did put it to the test with my age spots and they have visably reduced and the overall feel and look of my skin was much smoother..

How to use the PMD?  First if you are using a new disc you will need to prep it before use, take the selected disc rub the disc over the palm of your hand firmly for 7 seconds,  then place your selected disc onto the device and push gently to attach. The disc comes off just as easily with a quick and effortless pull. Screw cap into place with a 1/4 inch turn and seal tightly. Connect the cord to your PMD unit and plug it in! Note that you MUST use a cap as the device will not work properly if you don't have the cap on.  Remember not to use the device on the same spot for to long, keep moving it around your face and don't just focus on one spot. For best results: Pull your skin and stretch so it is tight and the disc can make contact. Keep the unit moving constantly over your skin!..

Here’s a useful skin regimin as suggested by PMD:
  •     Apply a treatment toner. This will neutralize the pH balance of the skin and prepare it for the recovery moisturizer.
  •     Wait 5 minutes.
  •     Apply a recovery moisturizer or cell renewal serum.
  •     Apply sunscreen daily since the skin will be extra sensitive to sun exposure.
  •     Cosmetics may be applied after the treatment.

Overall i would highly recommend the PMD to everyone, it has done my skin alot of good and i could honestly say i don't know what i would do without it!  If your going to spend hundreds.. maybe thousands of pounds getting treatments done then why not save yourself some money and get this at-home kit. [click here to see some before and after shots]

The PMD Personal Mircoderm retails for £179 and includes everything you need to get you started;  - Replacements PMD exfoliating discs are also sold separately in sets of 6 for only $14.95!

My Top 10 Lipsticks

I'm not going to lie, i have a ridiculous amount of lipsticks.. an unheathly amount of lipsticks for just one person.. My obsession for lipsticks started when i was just 14 years old when i bought my first lipstick - i can just remember it now using my pocket money i had saved up and running into Boots to pick out my first shade.  I can't remember which shade i picked out but i do remember the brand being Rimmel..  And from then on my obsession has grown and so has my lipstick collection..

Ciaté Caviar Manicure

I normally don't post about upcoming or soon to be released products as i normally wait for them to be released to tester them for myself before i wrote about them, but my heart literally skipped a beat when i saw these on the Ciaté website and i have a feeling these will sell out fast so 'Join the waiting list' to be informed of when these will be available.
The inspiration behind the Caviar Manicure™ came about when Charlotte, Ciaté’s Creative Director, was looking to create 3-dimensional nails for a front cover magazine shoot and wanted to develop something feminine, indulgent yet delicately extravagant.
The finished effect gives nails an instant sophisticated look.
Very Ciaté!
The Ciaté Caviar Kit is available in three colours; Rainbow, Black Pearls and Mother of Pearl.. I don't know about you, but i'm extremly excited for this launch and cannot wait to get my hands on 'Mother of Pearl'.
The set launches on March 26th(tomorrow) and will be available to purchase in all Sephora stores and online at and the Ciaté website. - priced at £18.

What do you think?  Will you be rushing out to buy them?..

Superdrugs Nail Polish Remover Pads

It's not everyday that i write about nail polish remover but i just had to give these a little shout-out.  A few weeks ago i purchased these nail polish remover pads online from Superdrugs whilst placing an order for a few other stuff..  I've never tried nail polish remover pads before as in my honest opinion they have never really interested me to want to go out and purchase them.
Anyway i thought i would give these a go see'ing as though they were pretty cheap at only £1.39 and with that you can 20 small pads.  There are a few down sides to these and a few good sides.. I'll start off with the good sides, they don't smell as bad as the nail polish remover you get in bottles for a start.. they actually have a nice perfume smell to them which isn't to strong either.. Another good point is that the pot is tiny so it could easily be thrown into your handbag or make up bag and you can remove your nail polish on the go.. you could even remove your nail polish on the train, bus or car.. areas where your travelling with other people as the smell won't go up their noses, i know my boyfriend hates the smell of nail polish remover!  And the last good point i found was the price, they are only £1.39 and you get 20 small pads which are also acetone free!
Now onto the bad points.. firstly, the remover pads are soo oily.. which could be a problem if you are removing your nail polish on the go as not all transportation has a W/C so you can't go wash your oily hands after.  The next bad point i found was how long it takes to remove the nail polish.. they do' do the job and remove the nail polish but it takes twice as long to remove them than normal nail polish remover and cotton wool..
The last bad point was removing glitter nail polish.. It was utterly useless at removing glitter nail polish.. honestly it took me about 10pads to remove one nail of nail polish!

Overall; i would repurchase these as they are really handy on the go so i would keep a spare one in my handbag, there cheap and they work just as well as normal nail polish remover .. just takes you twice as long.

You can purchase these nail polish remover pads in store and online at Superdrugs - £1.39 - click here (I have no idea why the packaging is different on the website, but these are the one's i bought)

Have you tried nail polish remover pads?  What were your thoughts?

Accessorize - Pink Spice

I almost forget Accessorize even do nail polishes sometimes, especially as i think of Accessorize as a accessorie shop..  Anyway i used to love Accessorize nail polishes well i still do and i just love the huge colour range they have to offer..  Recently Superdrugs had an offer where you could buy 3 for the price of 2 on Accessorize nail polishes so i quickly snapped a few up whilst the offer lasted and this was one of my choices.
Pink Spice is absolutely gorgeous and is part of their illusion collection with multi toned colours to stand out from the crowd... Packed filled with glitter but depite that drys with a smooth shiny duochrome finish and lasts around 5-7days before chipping.
The only downfall is that it takes 3coats of this nail polish to get the full effect but honestly with nails like these who cares?

- These images may not show the product properly so please click 'here' to see a proper swatch of the nails..

This nail polish is currently out of stock at Superdrugs, but you can leave your email address with them to email you when they are back in stock - click here

What do you think?  Would this be something you'd purchase?

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

I've already developed a love/hate relationship with this product, as you may know already i was dying to try this product out ever since i saw Missglamorazzi using it in one of her videos and describing her love for it, so i added it onto my wishlist and within a week it was in my hands.  Silly really as being a beauty blogger i should of known better and read reviews on it first before i went and ordered it.
I've only ever tried one mousse product and that was the Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush and from what i remember i really liked the product.  Anyway as soon as i had received the Dream Matte Mousse i tried it out and wasn't won over by the product immediately, infact i did find it quite drying at first and it did make my skin look patchy and you could tell i was blantently wearing foundation..  So as i had a bad experience the first time round i left it a few days to try it out again, this time i loved it.
The shade i picked was Ivory as i've found most of my foundations i own is in shade Ivory and it seems to be a perfect match for my skintone..  I've tried a few ways of applying this mousse - with a brush, fingers and with a sponge and found that applying it with a brush gets best results, for me anyway.
The smallest amount goes a long way, the texture is quite soft but very buildable and gives you great coverage, i'd say it's better suited for those with normal or oily skin than for those who have dry skin like me as it can look quite noticeable when applied..
As much as i really wanted to love this foundation i just seemed to find more con's than i do pro's - the biggest downfalls about this product was the fact it doesn't work with dry skin which is a bummer and second i don't like the fact that when it's applied it looks very noticeable and you can blantently tell you have foundation on but maybe that's because i have dry skin..
Overall i wouldn't recommend it to those with dry skin but for those with oily skin then this would be a great product for you to try out.. Unfortunately i wouldn't re-purchase this product mainly because it didn't work with my skin type..
You can purchase this product from £6.95 - £5.99 depending on the shades from cheapsmells - which is the cheapest i've found for them. 'click here'

Have you tried this product before? What were your thoughts?
